Do you have any questions? Here we are ready to answer them!
Who works on my translation?
On the basis of our resource management system we constantly acquire new translators with the necessary language skills and technical knowledge. An important criteria is our belief that translations should be done by native speakers. We adhere to this principle.
What is the 5-eye-principle?
During the translation process we apply the 5-eye-principle. This means that the translation is done by one person - 2 eyes, another person proof-reads it - 2 eyes, and then a final checking is made - 1 eye.
In the translation industry this principle is now standard for any high-quality translation. However, we don't charge you any extras for this standard, it's already in the price.
Are there any double costs if a document is translated from one foreign language into another?
No! To ensure a better quality and to reduce costs, all translations are done directly from language A into language B. This means that we do not translate by using so called "bridge languages". That would inevitably lead to a loss of quality and double the price of the whole translation.
Do you calculate your prices on the basis of words or lines?
We calculate the price for a translation on the basis of lines resp. characters. A line has 50 characters including space characters. The advantage of this method as opposed to word prices is that it's more accurate and therefore fairer to all parties involved. The basic idea behind this calculation method is this: A translator's mental effort cannot be measured. An attempt to measure at least the translator's physical performance is made by counting the amount of keyboard strokes that are needed for a translation. This means that every keyboard stroke is calculated, making it measurable and verifiable.
The German law on the remuneration of authorised experts, interpreters, translators and on the compensation of honorary magistrates, witnesses and third parties (Legal Remuneration and Compensation Act JVEG) for example also applies this system.
With the very common language combination German - English, for example, a calculation per word leads to much higher prices than a calculation per line. The reason is simply that the German language has a lot more compound nouns. The physical translation work, however, in the end is the same!
When will I receive my translation?
For a standard translation delivery is guaranteed at a fixed date - depending on the amount of text. If you decide on one of the three express levels, we deliver at the time specified.
What do I have to do if I need the translation urgently?
First we offer you three categories of express translations and their respective date and time of delivery. If this is not enough, you can post an individual inquiry via the system and inform us about the desired delivery date for your translation. We will check it and then get in touch with you.
What if I have to send you confidential data?
By using encoded data exchange together with an absolutely trustworthy treatment of your originals we offer you the best possible security during the order process. We also attach great importance to the selection of our translators.
Do I have to pay to register with leginda?
No, the registration (filling in the form, receiving a password etc.) doesn't cost you anything. Neither do we charge anything for a test calculation. You only have to pay if you explicitly place a translation order for a specific text.
How do I know that my translation is finished?
As soon as the translation is finished we'll send a message to your e-mail address.
What can I do if my file format is not recognised?
The price calculator recognises many file formats, such as .txt, .doc, .docx, .pdf, .rtf, .xls, .ppt, .odt, .html, .xml, .jpg und .jpeg. However, if a calculation still isn't possible, for example in the case of a scanned PDF-document or with texts embedded in pictures, as a registered user you can request an individual offer through our offer calculator (once you've logged in). We will get back to you as soon as possible. If you're not a registered user it's best to send us your request by e-mail together with the document that you would like to have translated.
Will the translations be proof-read?
We attach great importance to the high quality of our translations. That's why all translations are proof-read again and undergo a final checking. This process, also known as the 5-eye-principle, is already included in our price.
Can I be sure I'm using a certified system?
Leginda, the online order platform for professional translations, scored among more than 1.600 products, solutions and services and received the Innovations Award 2008 of the "Initiative Mittelstand" in the "sector-specific software" category.
